Black History Month

During the month of October Holy Family have been celebrating Black History Month. This Is a particularly special celebration within our school due to the African cultural make up and additional multicultural representation within our school. We have held special assemblies raising issues about black culture, racism and rising above repression, along with identifying leaders who helped this cause; Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela, Barack Obama for example.
Children designed posters to celebrate Black History and certificates were given to those who had created stunning, thought provoking  designs.
We ended the month of our celebration of Black History with a day to cultural dress  within school. Please enjoy our gallery of beautiful photos with an array of colours from around the world - but in particular Africa.
Thank you to all the parents and carers that took the time to  attend our final celebration assembly - for those of you unable to attend please have a look at the attached PowerPoint of the assembly. Thank you all for your support with this very important celebration within our school community.
