Book Week

World Book Day

At Holy Family we celebrated World Book Day on 5th March.  Lots of pupils and staff dressed up as characters from their favourite books.  We started the day with a whole school assembly, which parents were invited to.  We also had special guests attending;  the Mayor of Greenwich, our Chair of Governors and our Community Police Officer.  It was lovely to welcome members of our local community into our school to share this special event.

Paired Reading

On Thursday of 'Book Week' different age groups got together in school to pair up as reading buddies.  They shared stories together, taking it in turns to read. They talked about the pictures and characters and what they liked about the books.  Children love sharing stories with younger or older peers.

 Our Reading Garden

On Monday 4th March 2019 'Book Week' started at school. Our first celebration was the opening of a new "Reading Garden' a beautiful area dedicated to relaxing reading at lunch time. There are huge comfy cushions and cosy tents.  Children have the opportunity to read with children from other year groups and enjoy different books.
